American Classics - Advent Calendar Card

American Classics – 24-Door Calendar for Book Lovers

A hand-illustrated 24-door calendar of 24 classic American novels: find the hidden doors and guess the great book behind each scene.

Step into a New England library-parlour. A harpoon hangs by the shelves, a patchwork quilt covers the rocking chair, the pot-bellied stove glows and a riverboat waits at the dock.

Hidden around the scene are 24 little doors: a tiny door is hidden on a leather book, a quilt, a mantel, a ship model or the stove. Behind each one is a scene from a classic American book, from Moby-Dick to Tom Sawyer and Little Women. Every day for 24 days, find the door, open it and guess.

How it works

1. Find the door. Search the picture for today’s number.
2. Open it. A hand-drawn picture is waiting inside.
3. Guess. Guess the book and its author.
4. Check the answers on day 24. All 24 books, authors and years listed on an illustrated answer sheet in its own envelope.
