Poetry Advent - Advent Calendar Card

Poetry Advent – 24-Door Calendar for Poetry and Book Lovers

A hand-illustrated 24-door calendar of 24 famous poems: find the hidden doors and guess the poem and poet behind each picture.

Step into a poet’s cottage by a lake. Daffodils stand in a vase by the window, a nightingale sings in its cage, a lake shimmers outside and the poet reads aloud to a sleepy cat.

Hidden around the scene are 24 little doors: a tiny door is hidden on a book of verse, a lantern, the clock, a rug or a window pane. Behind each one is the scene of a famous poem, from Wordsworth’s daffodils to Frost’s snowy woods. Every day for 24 days, find the door, open it and guess.

How it works

1. Find the door. Search the picture for today’s number.
2. Open it. A hand-drawn picture is waiting inside.
3. Guess. Guess the poem and the poet.
4. Check the answers on day 24. All 24 poems, poets and years, listed on an illustrated answer sheet in its own envelope.

Why readers adore it

• Poems everyone half-remembers: Ozymandias, The Tyger, The Road Not Taken, Jabberwocky, The Eagle…
• Britain and America together: Keats and Shelley alongside Frost, Dickinson and Whitman.
• Hand-illustrated artwork: a cosy poet’s cottage with a hidden door on every shelf.
• A gift for the poetry lover: quietly beautiful.
• Screen-free and sugar-free: a daily ritual in verse.

Perfect for: Poetry lovers, English teachers and students, grandparents who learned poems at school, and anyone who still recites a stanza in the shower.
